** I've been trying to write this post since Sunday, but the end of the month has been nuts **
Monday morning our contractor was at the house bright and early. They knocked down the existing wall and tore out the lone shelf and hanging rod. And, by the end of the day they'd also framed the new wall -- we pushed the wall out about 5 feet and encompassed a window.
Tuesday the electrical had been done and the wall were sanded down.
Wednesday the drywall/sheetrock was put up on the new wall and more sanding on the walls where the previous opening to closet had been.
Yesterday, I think they treated the new wall a couple more times and I made a second trip to Lowe's for another light fixture. [ I had an image in my head that the light fixture would essentially be in the center of the closet, but that would have casted a shadow on the built-in dresser. So, the electrician put the box for the fixture closer to the front. Now we're keeping the old light and will have two new light fixtures. I'd rather do that than pay money for them to move it 10 inches. Even though I had a vision of a perfectly centered semi-flush mount fixture in my brand spankin' new closet :/ ]
Today they are installing the built ins, hanging rods and shelves. Over the weekend I'll do some painting and then the electrician will be back Monday to install the fixtures and finish up the light switch and the new outlets.
I'm so excited about the final product and being able to have all of our clothes and some linens in one place, instead of socked away in boxes. I know this will be money well spent as far as making sure our upstairs is organized.
